Title: Сделано в Узбекистане. Как Советский Союз и индустрия хлопка уничтожили море и экосистему целой страны

Description: Москва, 1 августа 1939 года. Открытие Всесоюзной сельскохозяйственной выставки, позже переименованной в ВДНХ. Первые зрители входят в павильон Узбекской ССР. Центральный зал потом так и назовут: «хлопковая комната». Главная скульптурная композиция, «Ленин и Сталин в Горках», утопала в белоснежных соцветиях. За скульптурой возвышался хирман — пирамида, в которую складывают хлопок-сырец во время сбора урожая. На самом верху пирамиды — цифра 1 504 200: столько тонн хлопка собрали в Узбекистане в 1938 году. В 1983 году Узбекская ССР должна была поставить Союзу шесть миллионов тонн хлопка. Между этими датами — множество жизней, потраченных без права выбора на хлопковую индустрию, экологическая катастрофа, огромное коррупционное дело и одно высохшее море. Что происходило с хлопком в Узбекистане от царских времен до наших дней.
